Lauren Jones, LICSW, LCSW-C

Maryland native, Mrs. Lauren Jones, is a dancer, writer, aromatherapist, designer, etc., and wants PPC to be "what I needed when I was younger...a space to process and create."

Jones' childhood home served as a therapeutic emergency placement for foster care children. Her parents (especially her mother) modeled compassion and empathy to her, her brother, and their transient foster siblings through warm meals and fun activities. "Pure healing and wellness through food and laughter...they embodied arts-based mental health."

Growing up with foster siblings also gave Jones a unique introduction to social work, the helping profession. Prior to pursuing her career in social work, she embarked on mission trips to South Africa and Costa Rica. "Whether I'm working locally or globally, art shatters barriers!"

Immediately following graduate school, Jones combined her clinical and creative skills and incorporated Propel Productions Center, Inc. (PPC) in 2013; and launched the first program in 2016. Jones is currently a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LICSW, LCSW-C) and truly embodies innovation, exemplary service, dedication, and commitment to heart work.

"There is no health without mental health."

"Nothing changes, if nothing changes."

As a Clinician & Coach

"I look forward to collaborating with you."

Educated.

I am a passionate, inquisitive and client-centered Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Washington, DC (LICSW) and Maryland (LCSW-C). I'm also an artist, an analytical thinker and a social entrepreneur.

I am a creative and critical thinker that seeks out-the-box, innovative solutions to address needs.

In 2011, I graduated from Winston-Salem State University, in North Carolina, with my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW). Immediately following, in 2013, I earned my Master of Social Work (MSW) degree and Social Entrepreneurship certificate from Washington University in St. Louis.

As a Social Worker and a lover of learning, I'm constantly taking continuing education classes to gain more in depth knowledge of my area of expertise.

Eclectic.

In my clinical practice, I have an eclectic style and combine cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), strengths-based approach, trauma-informed/focused practices, and solution-focused brief therapy (SFBT).

This is a goal-oriented framework that identifies the connections between thoughts, feelings and behaviors; acknowledge patterns; and focus on the present.

SERVING AS COACH AND THERAPIST

In my coaching practice I work in the role of Social Entrepreneurship Guide. My approach focuses on those changes that you want to see throughout your entrepreneurial journey: developing a niche, storytelling, program development, finance and budgeting.

In my therapy practice my specialties include anger management, stress management, boundary setting, healthy relationships, and effective interpersonal communication.

Empathetic.

As a Marylander native to Prince George's County, there is a special place in my heart to serve the community that helped raise me.

I dedicate approximately 70% of my client capacity to residents of Prince George's County.

I love all things mental health, specifically within our communities of color. I'm a firm believer in creating safe, supportive spaces that also challenge traditional therapy.

I also incorporate Eastern holistic wellness modalities (aromatherapy, mindfulness, expressive art, etc.) because the mind and body are connected in learning and healing.

Using expressive arts in my practice is a how I engage communities of color in non-traditional mental health practices. There is no one-size-fits-all form of mental health. Together we can find what works for you!
